Peer Leadership Alternatives for Youth (Project PLAY) is DCYHC’s youth development and health education department. PLAY provides a multi-faceted approach to preventing teen pregnancy through: (1) sex educaiton curriculum in high school health education classes; (2) peer health education; (3) mentoring; and (4) service learning. Staff consists of a Project Coordinator, Mentor Coordinator, Peer Program Coordinator, Outreach Workers and AmeriCorps Members. ARC, the Youth and Family Accelerated Resource Center is a multi-service project consisting of a community day school, case management, social services and probation services for at-risk teens and their families in Daly City. Components include academic instruction in a small, individualized setting, social behavior and mental health counseling, parent education, medical services and recreational activities. ARC aims to improve school performance, increase school retention and reduce new and repeat criminal behavior. ARC is staffed with a teacher, instructional aide, care coordinator, county youth group supervisor and probation officers, and a mental health counselor. Pathways for Success is a school to career transition program for low-income high school students who live in northern San Mateo County. Pathways offers academic, vocational and leadership services for youth. Services include:

Enrollment in No/Low-Cost Health Insurance Programs. Clients and families can meet with a benefit analyst in our clinic, Monday-Friday from 1:00pm – 5:00 pm. An appointment is required. The analyst completes a confidential intake to determine eligibility for a variety of health insurance programs including Medi-Cal, Healthy Families and Healthy Kids.
