Free Immunization Services for High School Students: August 13, 14, 17, 2007:
Free immunization services will be offered to all newly enrolling students of the Jefferson Union High School District. The immunizations will be offered at Jefferson High School in the Little Theatre from 12:00pm - 4:00pm on the following dates: Monday, August 13; Tuesday, August 14; Friday, August 17. The school's address is: 6996 Mission Street in Daly City.

To receive immunizations, students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian, present a signed Daly City Youth Health Center consent form and if applicable, bring their Medi-Cal, or Health Plan of San Mateo Healthy Families or Healthy Kids insurance card. Students should also bring their immunization records.

During the immunization campaign, there will be information on how to enroll in no-cost and low-cost health insurance programs. For more information, click here for our informational flyer or call 650 985-7000.

RECENT EVENTS

April 18, 2007: Over 135 community members, staff and volunteers joined us at our 2nd Annual Awards Dinner Reception honoring our volunteers and their contributions to the Health Center . This special event was held during National Volunteer Week. Nancy Steiger, CEO of the San Mateo Medical Center was the Mistress of Ceremonies. Annually, the Daly City Youth Health Center acknowledges our volunteers as well as the vision and passion of our co-founder, Carol Forest , through the presentation of the Carol Forest Service Award. An award was given to Jazmine Lopez-Gutierrez, an 11th grader at Oceana High School in Pacifica who volunteered over 180 hours at the Health Center. Al Teglia also received an award for his advocacy and work on behalf of children and families throughout the area.

May 6, 2006:
DCYHC held a very successful car wash and rummage sale and raised $1,500! A special thank you goes to DCYHC's Peer Health Educators, staff and other volunteers for all their hard work during event.

April 19, 2006: The Daly City Youth Health Center held its Annual Awards Dinner Reception and Silent Auction. This special event took place at the Boulevard Café in Daly City.

November 10, 2005: DCYHC held an all-day fundraising event at Chevy's located at 141 Hickey Blvd. in South San Francisco. Friends and family members dined with us and Chevy's donated 20% of the proceeds to DCYHC. Thank you to all our supporters!

August 22-26, 2005:The DCYHC immunized over 180 high school students during its annual back-to-school immunization campaign. The event took place at Jefferson High School.

May 18, 2005: We held our highly successful 15th Anniversary Celebration Event in Pacifica at the Pacifica Beach Resort Hotel. The event included a gala dinner, silent auction, student multi-media art exhibit, quest speakers and an awards ceremony. Over 150 guests attended. Carol Forest and Janet Chaikind, MD were honored. The Honorable Adrienne Tissier of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors was a keynote speaker. The DCYHC received a contratulatory resolution from the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, the City of Pacifica, a Certificate of Recognition from Assemblyman Leland Yee, and a congratulatory letter from U.S. Senator Diane Feinstein. The June 1, 2005 issue of the Pacifica Tribune featured an article about the DCYHC and our 15th Anniversary Event.

November 16, 2004: The DCYHC and the Young Filipino Professional Association held a successful evening career event for high school students on November 16, 2004. "Tha Hook Up" featured adults from a wide range of professions who met with students in small groups and discussed their careers. Adults and students alike were inspired by the lively discussions. Plans are underway to make "Tha Hook Up" an annual event.

October 21, 2004: The DCYHC held an all day fundraising event at the Chevy's located at 141 Hickey Blvd in South San Francisco. Family and friends were invited to dine with us anytime during the day and Chevy's donated 20% of the proceeds to the DCYHC.

August 23-30, 2004: The DCYHC immunized 191 high school students during its busy immunization campaign. In addition, many families were given information on health insurance programs.

August 3, 2004: The DCYHC honored volunteers and donors during an evening appreciation event. Local news coverage was very strong. Both the San Mateo County Times and the Examiner published articles about the event on August 4, 2004.

May 8, 2004: The Health Center participated in the "Human Race", an annual community fundraising event held by the Volunteer Center of San Mateo County. Several youth and adults participated. Participants raised over $1,500 for the Health Center. Thank you to all our volunteers and staff who made this such a fun and successful experience.

May 4, 2004: A group of Peer Health Educators from Thornton High School held a fundraising walk around Lake Merced. The students raised over $700 for the Health Center. This group deserves a special thankyou for their commitment to supporting our youth programs.

April 28, 2004: We held a Point of Entry Event for current and perspective funders. The event was well attended by several local foundations. Foundation representatives met with staff, took a facility tour and viewed a video on teen pregnancy which was produced by high school students. We plan on hosting more events like this in the future.

April 24, 2004: Our Clinic Remodel Day was very successful. Over 30 volunteers from "Rebuilding Together, Peninsula" participated. Our clinic was painted and we had new carpet and tile installed. We would like to thank Rebuilding Together for selecting the Daly City Youth Health Center to receive this much needed service grant. We would also like to thank Guevel & Schwarz Painting and Decorating, Inc. for their donation of many gallons of paint!

December 10, 2003: The DCYHC honored volunteers and donors at a recent Appreciation Breakfast, held in the Health Center's clinic.

August 18-22, 2003: Special immunization clinics were held for newly enrolling JUHSD high school students along with opportunity for families to enroll in health insurance program. (More information.)

Thursday, May 1, 2003: The DCYHC honored a group of community muralists who recently completed a new mural for the Health Center.

Thursday, May 8, 2003: Students from throughout the Jefferson Union High School District showed off their talent during a Talent Show in support of Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month. May was Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month.
