Insurance FAQs

What if I don't have insurance?

That is totally okay. If you don't have insurance, we'll sign you up for government insurance (Medi-Cal or Family PACT) that covers most or all of the cost of your care.

If I have private insurance, can I come to the Health Center?

Yes, but only for confidential services (like reproductive health care or substance abuse counseling). For primary health care, you'll have to use your private health insurance at your regular doctor.

What if I have Kaiser insurance?

You can use the Daly City Youth Health Center for confidential services, but Kaiser also has a confidential reproductive health clinic for teens. Click here for the location and phone number.

What if I already have government insurance?

If you have California Healthy Kids, Medi-Cal, or Healthy Families, your services will be covered by that insurance.

When I sign up for insurance, how does it work?

When you come in for your appointment, we have you fill out a form that signs you up right away for Family PACT.

If you'd like to sign up for Medi-Cal, we have someone to help you fill out the forms. You can sign up for Medi-Cal with an appointment Monday - Friday from 1pm - 5pm.

Is there anywhere else I can sign up for insurance?

Yes! County of San Mateo Services has a Human Services Agency that has three locations where you can make an appointment with a benefits analyst to get all set up with insurance.

Click here for their flier containing locations and phone numbers.
