Mary Jane Hipe, a well loved, respected mental health counselor, passed away on September 28, 2011. Jane was a therapist at Daly City Youth Health Center for 12 years, where she counseled students at Jefferson and Westmoor High Schools. She was extremely committed to working with youth, also providing counseling at Richmond Area Multi-Services, Inc. (RAMS) and Balboa High School. In addition, Jane had worked at the West Bay Filipino Mulit-Services Center. She was influential in the Filipino community (especially in the area of mental health), presented at a number of workshops about mental health issues facing Filipino-Americans, and participated in the Filipino Mental Health Initiative. Jane was a gifted therapist, supportive coworker, and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her at the Health Center and in the community. We extend our sincere condolences to her friends and family.
Visitation/Vigil/Funeral Information:
Friends are invited to visit after 4:00pm on Monday, October 3rd, 2011 and visit after 4:00pm on Tuesday, October 4th with a Vigil Service at 7:00pm on Tuesday, all at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Wednesday, October 5th at 10:30am at St. Andrew Church, 1571 Southgate Ave., Daly City. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Daly City Youth Center, 2780 Junipero Serra Blvd., Daly City, CA 94015-1634 or RAMS, 3626 Balboa St., San Francisco, CA 94121.
